A Legacy of Care
James River Counseling Center was founded in 1999 by Kathy Kilcher and Elizabeth Jenkins, two clinicians who had each spent over a decade serving the Lynchburg community through public mental health agencies. They shared a vision for a private practice built on clinical excellence and genuine care.
That same year, Barbara Jannah also joined the practice as an independent clinician, bringing her own wealth of experience from Centra Health. Barbara's commitment to service extended well beyond the office; she and Kathy spent years volunteering with the American Red Cross disaster mental health program.
In 2011, Melisa Stone became the third partner in the practice. Together, they built what is now Lynchburg's longest continuously running private therapy practice, a testament to their dedication to high-quality client care and enduring partnership.
In 2026, Dr. Daniel Hall and Morgan Hall became owners of James River Counseling Center and are proud to continue the practice's legacy of quality mental health care for the Lynchburg and surrounding communities.
